India’s busiest airport suspended all flights from its terminal after part of its roof collapsed in the early hours of Friday amid heavy rain and thunderstorms, injuring people and trapping some passengers.

Airport officials said the collapse occurred around 5 a.m. local time in the departure area of the terminal, and all flights from the terminal have been suspended. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights.
The Press Trust of India reported that part of the roof collapsed onto the boarding and disembarking area outside the terminal, crushing several cars. ReportedLocal fire officials said the fire injured at least six people.
According to flight tracking website FlightAware, as of around 8 a.m., more than 600 flights departing from the airport were delayed and 17 flights were canceled.
The terminal was recently renovated and expanded to accommodate 40 million passengers per year. according to Press release from the airport.
