Lebanese militant group Hezbollah claimed on Tuesday it had launched its deepest attack on Israel since October, using drones to strike north of the city of Acre and sounding alarms along the country’s northern coastline.

The armed group, Iran’s most powerful regional proxy, has been engaged in escalating cross-border attacks against Israeli forces since the war in Gaza began more than six months ago. In the latest attack, a drone strike was allegedly launched against an Israeli military camp about 10 miles from the Lebanese border. The extent of the damage is unclear.

The Israeli military said it had “successfully intercepted” two air strikes on the northern coast but did not comment on Hezbollah’s claims that it had hit military camps.

Video circulated on a Hezbollah-affiliated Telegram channel on Tuesday and geolocated by The New York Times showed people on Akko beach looking up to the sky as sirens blared and explosions rang out.

The attack followed Israel’s targeted killing of two Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon, both of whom the Israeli military claimed were involved in Hezbollah air operations. The killings last night and Tuesday were the latest in a series of assassinations of Hezbollah commanders and fighters, as the Lebanese militant group increasingly uses self-destructing drones to target Israeli military sites.

Last week, Hezbollah claimed that Drone and missile attacks The attack in northern Israel, which killed one soldier and wounded 16 soldiers and two civilians, was one of the group’s most devastating attacks in Israel in recent months.
