Thousands of people marched in Tel Aviv calling for a hostage deal.


About 100,000 demonstrators rallied in Tel Aviv on Saturday, calling on the Israeli government to negotiate a hostage release deal with Hamas, according to event organizers.

The demonstrations included speeches by the ambassadors to Israel from the United States, Britain, Germany and Austria. They pledged to continue efforts to bring home the hostages captured in the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, the group behind Saturday’s event, has staged a number of similar demonstrations in Israel since the war in Gaza began. About 240 people were kidnapped on the day of the attack. According to Israeli authorities, some 125 people remain, but not all are alive.

Israel announced on Saturday that it had found the body of 53-year-old Ron Binyamin, who was imprisoned in Gaza. On the morning of the October 7 attack, Mr. Benyamin, a husband and father of two daughters, was riding his bicycle with friends near Be’eri, a small kibbutz near the Gaza border.

Israeli military spokesman Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari said Hamas militants killed Mr. Benjamin and brought his body back to Gaza, where his body was found on Thursday night. Itzhak Grunt, Shani Locke and Amit Bouskila.
